Borden/Wiegner Residence, Jemez, New Mexico, 1994-1998
Robert Borden and Kathleen Wiegner wanted to live in a 'cabin' on the Jemez river for their permanent home. The building is lifted on a super-structure of telephone poles as a protection from flooding and to make the most of views in all directions. The ground level is thus open allowing for views through to the river at that level as well as covered exterior spaces for parking and picnics. Living areas and studio spaces are on the first level above ground with bedrooms on the level above. The roof provides a large deck with 360 degree vieews, Jacuzzi and outdoor sleeping spaces
